Only a few kilometers away from the town of Melnik and in the immediate vicinity of the famous Melnik Pyramids, is located one of the oldest medieval monasteries in the Pirin Mountain - the Rozhen monastery “Holy Virgin Birth”.

High, high in the Rila Mountain, where the forest touches the sky and the prayers to God have the greatest power, is the Rila Monastery.

Nature has donated Rila with divine beauty and an incredible variety of plant and animal worlds. There are a large number of rivers, springs, streams and crystal-clear lakes.

For those of you who have not heard, Melnik is the smallest town in Bulgaria. It is located in the south-western foothills of the Pirin Mountains.
